Transition Programs

Student Accessibility Services invites incoming students with documented disabilities to participate in . Students who have previously participated in these workshops feel better prepared and are more successful in the first few months of university.

Health Services

The university’s  is committed to the delivery of high-quality health-care services that promote student health in a professional and confidential manner. Counselling Services

 provides support and assistance for students experiencing academic challenges caused by personal, physical or emotional difficulties by offering a range of short-term counselling and therapy services to students using a Stepped Care model. Students in crisis will also be provided support and counselling as needed through appropriate referrals to the community. 

Academic Support

The  helps students strengthen their academic skills and build a foundation for future success. SLC offers a variety of programs and services to assist student in their studies. Students have access to peer-tutoring, peer-assisted study sessions, workshops and can book appointments with academic specialists. Students can also utilize nool, an online resource for writing, math, science and study skills. is a summer academic transition program that can help students get a head start in their university career.

Residence and Housing

On-Campus Housing

Ontario Tech University offers  to students. Residence is guaranteed for all first year students provided they complete the necessary application by the deadline. All residence rooms come furnished and include high speed internet access and local telephone service; residence rates vary based on the style of room. 

 are mandatory in South Village residence but optional for Simcoe residence. Plans operate on a set number of meals and a credit account that lasts throughout the year.

The University offers several barrier-free rooms. Students requiring special accommodations are required to complete the “request for special consideration” form on their residence application.

Durham Transit

 The University offers a U-Pass (Universal Transit Pass), included in student tuition, providing unlimited access to Durham Region Transit (DRT).  are provided for DRT buses. Transit  are offered for each of the DRT different regions.

Accessibility

DRT provides accessible conventional bus services, with features such as:

  • extendable access ramps
  • kneeling features
  • wheelchair and scooter securement areas

DRT also offers the  which allows users of both the conventional and specialized transit system who require a support person to have this person travel with them at no additional cost. Persons who require a support person must complete the .  DRT also offers  which provides door-to-door transit services.
